Justin and Julie-Ann are planning to announce their engagement at a dinner party in their Docklands apartment, at which her intolerant northern parents and his alcoholic Surrey mother will meet for the first time.

This unpredictable evening veers completely off course with the arrival, during a rainstorm, of lap-dancer Paige, on the run from her violent boyfriend, closely followed by her gun-toting minder Mickey.

As poignant as it is hilarious, this demonstration of straightforward gimmick-free comedy by Alan Ayckbourn was loved by the critics – it’s a truly life affirming night out!
