Justine Sowden, Theatre Manager 

Justine has been Theatre Manager since August 2017.   Her strong passion for the creative arts led to a long and successful career as a television producer, director and business development manager making award-winning factual programmes for ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, Discovery and Animal Planet.    A resident of Ilkley, both Justine’s daughters have attended our Greenroom drama classes.

Justine’s job as Theatre Manager is to lead the operational day-to-day management of the theatre.  Her role involves managing staff alongside working closely with our volunteer members who play such a vital role in our theatre.   She is keen to ensure that our volunteers are supported and encouraged to achieve their aspirations.  Justine is inspired daily by the dedication and commitment of everyone who is part of this extraordinary Playhouse family.  She works closely with the Treasurer and Artistic Director to ensure our financial growth and security.   She enjoys developing our dynamic programme of high-quality events across theatre, film, music, comedy, poetry, presentations and festivals.  Justine is delighted that her vision for the theatre as a friendly welcoming arts hub is thriving and takes great pride that our varied programme is valued by diverse audiences and artists across the region. She sits on several committees: Publicity, Finance and the Theatre Committee.
