Synopsis

A Christmas Carol

By Charles Dickens

Adapted by Peter Leech

Seven years after the death of his business partner Jacob Marley, a miserable old man named Ebenezer Scrooge is working in his office. He hates happiness, love, family, generosity and Christmas! This is a joyful celebration of a well-loved tale with authentic carols and traditional dance to entertain and get you in the mood for the festive season.

Directed by Mervyn Button

Relaxed Matinee performance on Saturday 15th December 2.30pm

For our Relaxed Performance, the show will be slightly adapted and the atmosphere in the theatre more relaxed - so it’s perfect for people who might shy away from public performances.  The sound will be turned down a little and the theatre lights turned up and a relaxed performance always includes a relaxed attitude to noise and movement (voluntary and involuntary) in the auditorium.

There will be a special ‘quiet’ zone for anyone who might feel uncomfortable at any point in the performance. This will be a safe and supervised space for audience members to come out if they should find that the auditorium starts to become overwhelming.

There’ll be lots of friendly members of the Front of House team to welcome you.  We will also provide a visual story for anyone who needs it in advance, as well as a clear synopsis.

If you are interested in our Relaxed Performance, please contact the office on 01943 609539 or email info@ilkleyplayhouse.co.uk. Booking for this performance is not available online because we would like to talk with you to make sure you are clear what will be available and so we can help you with any questions you might have.
