Adult Introduction to Drama Classes


Ever thought you might like to have a go at acting but didn’t know how to start?

Ever simply been curious about the mysteries of the theatre and wanted to learn more?

These classes are for you…

Andrew Leggott, Drama Teacher, Actor and Director, a member of Ilkley Playhouse for nearly 40 years will be running a series of interactive sessions initially from September to December 2025 and will welcome allcomers of any age and with limited or no dramatic experience to participate. The classes will culminate in a brief performance at the Christmas Coffee Morning.


  • Complete newcomers or limited experience
  • Learn or develop acting skills
  • Consider aspects of theatre
  • Warm-up exercises
  • Vocal skills
  • Body language/facial expression
  • Improvisation
  • Interpreting a script
  • The role of the Director
  • Performing Shakespeare


Meetings will be at the Playhouse, mostly on Saturday afternoons between 2 and 3 pm.


The fee for the one term will be £45 for paid-up members of Ilkley Players, or £65 for non-members, with a reduction of £10 for each additional husband, wife or partner. (Up to a maximum of one!)
