Synopsis

The dazzling classic Broadway musical Kiss Me, Kate is brought to the Playhouse by the creative team that brought you High Society and Betty Blue Eyes. This exuberant show-within-a-show throws together gun-toting gangsters, sparring actors and romantic entanglements against a backdrop of a touring musical production of The Taming of the Shrew.

With songs by Cole Porter, the story is shot through with wit, charm, and some spectacular choreography. Though the effervescent wit of Porter’s songs is the star attraction, Sam and Bella Spewack’s book crackles with comic energy and great one-liners, while there are moments of tenderness and hurt amid the dizzy joie-de-vivre.

Nights at the theatre don’t often come more enjoyable than this!

Amateur production by arrangement with Musicscope and Stage Musicas Ltd of New York. Directed by David Kirk Musical Director, Cathy Sweet Choreographer, Ted Oxley-Kirk
