Synopsis
by Beth Steel
Directed by Chris Winstanley
This amateur production is presented by arrangement with NICK HERN BOOKS
Come for the wedding. Stay for the fallout.
A fiercely funny and deeply moving drama set during a wedding celebration that promises to be the happiest day of the year.
As family and friends gather to celebrate, the music plays, the drinks flow and the dancing begins. But beneath the laughter and the confetti, tensions simmer and old loyalties are tested. What starts as a joyful celebration soon becomes something far more complicated as secrets surface and emotions run high.
Beth Steel’s brilliant play captures the chaos, warmth and contradictions of family life with remarkable honesty. Full of sharp humour, recognisable characters and moments of real tenderness, the play balances laugh‑out‑loud comedy with powerful drama. The result is an evening that is both hugely entertaining and deeply affecting.
Set over the course of one unforgettable night, Till the Stars Come Down explores love, class, family and belonging with wit and compassion. As the celebration unfolds, the characters are forced to confront truths about themselves and each other, leading to moments that are as poignant as they are hilarious.
Warm, vibrant and emotionally rich, this is contemporary theatre at its very best.
Join us for a night of laughter, drama and unforgettable storytelling.
This production contains flashing lights, strong language, adult themes, scenes of violence and moments of a sexual nature.
