Synopsis
Once in a while something magical happens when a group of musicians come together to perform music they truly love.
Fire & Rain are not a tribute band, but a group of like-minded musicians united by their love of the music of James Taylor.
The band formed in 2013 when Tom Townsend and Bob Walker were invited by a local promoter to create an homage to Taylor’s timeless songs – an opportunity not to be missed.
Bob was commissioned to transcribe and arrange the music, the band came together, and years of gigs later Fire & Rain continue to go from strength to strength, bringing warmth, musicianship and genuine affection to this wonderful catalogue of songs.
Fire & Rain are:
Rich Adams – Well known as a member of Stony, Rich brings his vocal and guitar skills to the mix, as well as his incredible triangle playing!
Tom Townsend – Noted for his wide-ranging musical skills, Tom features on vocals, acoustic and electric guitars.
Mark Gordon – The other half of Stony, Mark handles the keyboard parts with commensurate skill.
Paul Tilley – Yet another multi-talented legend. Paul plays drums with great skill and taste and adds wonderful vocal harmonies to the mix.
Bob Walker – Freelance bass player Bob loves playing with these fine musicians. He is also tasked with sound duties and making sure everyone is where they are supposed to be – at the right time!
Rowan Oliver – Scarborough’s very own Dr Funk. Ex-Goldfrapp drummer Rowan is a relative newcomer to the band and now very much a permanent fixture, bringing the gloss of wonderful percussion to the mix.
You don’t have to be a fan of James Taylor to enjoy Fire & Rain – but the chances are you will be by the end of the night.
