Synopsis

Starring Celeste Cimino and Luciano Millaqueo

With Debra Camsey, Paul Dapprich, Sarah Dietz and Jack Mashburn.

Back by popular demand, professional Argentine Tango dancers, Celeste Cimino and Luciano Millaqueo, return to Ilkley in March 2024 to stage An Evening in Buenos Aires. Semi-finalists in the World Championship and defending champions of the prestigious Los Reyes de la Plaza competition, these rising stars of tango will recreate the ambiance of a Buenos Aires nightclub in the Wildman Studio, supported by dancers from the Northern Tango Society.

In a joyful programme of live music and dance, against a backdrop of film and images, Luciano and Celeste will transport us from the birth of tango in the first decade of the twentieth century, through the Golden Age of the 1930s and 40s which was the heyday of tango’s famous radio and film stars; from the coup d’état of the 1950s to the present day, explaining the development of tango’s signature in steps such as the ocho, boleo, gancho and giro.

So come and join us to experience the passion, immerse yourself in the music and connect with the cultural heart of Argentina!
