Synopsis

This amateur production is presented by arrangement with NICK HERN BOOKS

by Charles Dickens, adapted by Hugh Janes

Directed by Dick Hebbert

Set in the late 19th century, antiquarian book dealer David Filde is sent to the crumbling ancient seat of the Gray family to catalogue its library for latest scion Lord Gray.

As Filde works, he becomes increasingly unnerved by the atmosphere of his new workplace. So begins a series of unexplained events which Filde must convince his employer are real to enable them together to unlock the dark secret of the house.

Shakespeare said “A sad tale’s best for winter” – today we prefer a scary tale and what better for a winter night than a ghost story based on original works from the pen of Charles Dickens. Here we have atmosphere, shocks and surprises enough to satisfy the most ardent thrill-seekers. When you don’t know what you’re dealing with, you always fear what you can’t see….

“I’ve heard it said that spirits remain in places where their bodies were most unhappy….”
