Synopsis

by Charley Miles

This amateur production is presented by arrangement with NICK HERN BOOKS

Directed by Rachel Vernelle

A funny, honest, ferocious play about the bonds that tie us, and how we sometimes need to break them.  One sister stayed at home to care for Dad: dutiful, dependable. The other set out to 'make a difference'; irresponsible, attention-seeking.  But is it ever really that simple?

Reunited under their childhood roof, Pauline and Rachel unearth more than the ten years between them. It's a huge gap.  Almost insurmountable. They stand on the mouth of a volcano, which could erupt at any moment.  And each is determined to let the other know exactly who has done things right.

Anyone who has a sibling will recognise the depth of these sisters’ rivalries, resentments, and the rawness of their love.

“It’s really hard being sisters isn’t it.

I wonder if everyone finds it this hard.

I wonder if it’s always been this hard.”

The production contains strong language.
