Synopsis
The course explores literary highlights from this weekly magazine which celebrated its centenary in 2025. Over ten weeks, we’ll chart The New Yorker’s evolution from a Manhattan-focused ‘fifteen-cent comic paper’, as its original editor asserted, to a magazine still able ‘to surprise, delight, and inform with accuracy and depth,’ as its current editor asserts.
Course Tutor: Robert Hemmings, PhD
