Synopsis

By Agatha Christie

Directed by Steve Mason

This amateur production of “The Hollow” is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd. on behalf of Samuel French Ltd. www.concordtheatricals.co.uk

John Cristow is at the top of the medical profession, and the trouble with being so successful is that you can feel immortal, entitled, immune. You start taking risks and assume you will get away with them.

John thinks he can gather his wife,  his ex-mistress, his current mistress, her devoted admirer (and his devoted admirer!) all together under one roof – the roof of Lady Angkatell who is frankly a bit batty -  and it will be nothing but fun.

But nemesis is lurking round the corner, and this disastrous cocktail of people ends, as it must, in murder. Scotland Yard have to rush to work out who the murderer is before they strike again – can you beat them to it?

Agatha Christie said that she thought  this was one of the best stories she ever wrote. There are no secret formulas, stolen jewels, or mistaken identities – just human nature, love and hate, in the raw. And a very disturbing sculpture, The Worshipper…

“ The worst of murder is it does upset the servants so”.
